Pinay swimmer, nakasungkit ng pwesto para sa World Cup Championships

Nakakuha ng pwesto ang Pinay swimmer na si 2023 Cambodia Southeast Asian Games athlete Xiandi Chua para sa World Cup Championships na isasagawa ngayong taon sa Budapest, Hungary. 

Nakuha ni Chua ang Qualifying Time Standard (B) matapos na maitala ang 2:09.71 sa women’s 200m backstroke, sa Incheon, Korea Series. 

Una rito ay nakuha ni Chua ang kanyang unang QTB para sa World Cup sa oras na 4:45.41 sa 400m Individual Medley habang nangangampanya para sa Philippine Team sa 2024 Australian Short Course Swimming Championships noong Setyembre sa Adelaide, Australia. 

Nakapasok si Chua kasama ang 18-anyos na si Jasmine Mojdeh sa Finals sa 200m butterfly at tumapos sa ikapito at ikawalong puwesto, sa oras na 2:14.11 at 2:16.58.

Ayon kay Philippine Aquatics, Inc. Secretary-General at Batangas 1st District Congressman Eric Buhain, target ng PAI na makamit ang kanilang layunin na manalo at magkamit ng tagumpay sa sa larangan ng swimming, kung kaya naman ibinibigay na nila ang kanilang buong makakaya dahil ang mahalaga sa kanila ay ang panalo, maliit man ito o malaki. 

“We’re far from our ultimate goal, but we’re moving in that direction. What we’re experiencing right now is the usual lows and highs of any sport, we win some and lose some. Wins like this, however small, are still important to us because it means we’re capable of giving out the best shots at any opportunity. The road to success is never easy, but our swimmers are taking that road,” ani Buhain.
