PBA: Ikalawang sunod na panalo nasungkit ng Tropang Giga

Nasungkit ng TNT Tropang Giga ang kanilang pangalawang sunod na panalo matapos na talunin ang Blackwater Bossing, 109-93, sa nagpapatuloy na PBA Season 49 Commissioner's Cup na ginanap sa Ninoy Aquino Stadium nitong Huwebes ng gabi, December 19. 

Itinuturing naman ni Jayson Castro na magandang pagkakataon ang nangyaring panalo ng kanilang koponan matapos ang kanyang pagbabalik kagabi. Hindi kasi nakasama si Castro sa nakalipas na tatlong laro ng koponan dahil sa tinamo nitong injury. 

Tinapos ni Castro ang laro matapos makapag-ambag ng 16 puntos sa kanyang pagbabalik na naging dahilan para makuha ng TNT ang panalo.

Nanguna sa panalo ng Tropang Giga si Rondae Hollis-Jefferson na nagtala ng 22 points, habang mayroon 19 si Rey Nambatac at 18 naman ang naitala ni Calvin Oftana.

Samantala, sinabi ni TNT coach Chot Reyes na magiging malaking tulong sa kanila ang walong araw na pagpapahinga para sa Christmas break para matutukan ang kani-kanilang pamliya at pagkatapos ay ang kanilang patuloy na pag-eensayo. 

“The good thing was after that last game, we had a long break. And we used the break to work on our mechanics especially defensively,” ani coach Reyes. 

Magandang bagay din aniyang nalimitahan nila ang efficiency ni George King na nakapagtala lang ng 28 points para sa Blackwater. 

“Towards the last couple of days, we focused in on how to stop George King. We all know his ability from the four-point line. We really made it a point, we were very intentional in guarding the four-point line against George,” dagdag pa ni Reyes. 

Sa January 7, 2025, muling susubukan ng Tropang Giga na makuha ang kanilang ikatlong panalo laban sa Meralco Bolts sa Philsports Arena, habang sa January 8 naman ay haharapin ng Blackwater Bossing sa kaparehong venue ang Rain or Shine.
