Mga batang Pinoy weightlifter target maka-ginto sa Spain

Target ng walong young Pinoy weightlifter na makapag-uwi ng gintong medalya sa kanilang pagsabak sa International Weightlifting Federation World Junior Championships simula ngayong araw,  Setyembre 19 hanggang 27 sa Leon, Spain.

Naniniwala din ang Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas (SWP) na mag-uuwi ang Pilipinas ng hindi bababa sa apat na medalya mula sa nasabing torneyo. 

Ayon sa Pangulo ng SWP na si Monico Puentevella, ang eight-man delegation ay may magandang pagkakataon na gumawa ng maraming biyahe sa podium.

Maglalaban-laban sina Angeline Colonia, Rose Jean Ramos, Jhodie Peralta, Rosalinda Faustino, Albert Ian delos Santos, Lovely Inan, Prince Keil delos Santos at Eron Borres sa pinakamahusay na up-and-coming weightlifters sa torneo.

“I think all of them, maybe four or five, have good chances to win. Hopefully silver or gold in the Junior World Championships. That’s why I’m saying, some of them will be ready for Los Angeles.”  ani Puentebella

Matangi sa hangaring makapag-uwi ng medalya para sa bansa, sinabi pa ni Puentevella na ang torneo na ito ay nagsisilbi ring venue para sa mga gustong sumabak sa mga susunod na international tournaments gaya ng Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, Asian Games, at 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

“They will have a chance to go to Los Angeles. I believe I can see one or two or three of them going to LA. They will be about 22 or 23 years old by then for the first Olympics. That will make them very ripe for the future, SEA Games, Asian Games and subsequently the Olympics. sabi pa ni Puentevella.
